Time to restore…the importance of sleep
Sleep is essential to our health and wellbeing. When we sleep our body goes into repair mode and restores itself, our hormones rebalance, our blood pressure lowers and our digestive system resets. During the winter months we naturally feel the need for more sleep and rest yet often we resist because we regard it a luxury or indulgence. In the run up to Christmas life gets busy and we often compromise on sleep at a time we need it most, since sleep also helps keep our immune system strong and our energy levels up.
Yoga can help us sleep well whether it's a dynamic practise during the day to refresh and energise perhaps coupled with a walk in the fresh air, or a gentle practise in the evenings to relax and unwind after a busy day. Prioritise your wellbeing this festive season, take time to sleep.
